For those who want to dance to techno beats in old factory halls, have extensive brunch or visit a flea market on Sundays.
If you like an urban and alternative atmosphere, Friedrichshain is the ideal district. Here you will still come across many anarchists, walking around with their stray dogs or sunbathing on Boxhagener Platz along with young families. The district is characterised by its many street art, living room cinemas and vegan restaurants, cafés and shops. For a real Berlin feel, head to the RAW-Gelände, where the old sheds serve as a canvas for street artists on the outside and as a skate hall, techno club, beer garden or swimming pool on the inside. On this side of the Spree, you'll find along the waterfront the longest remaining stretch of the Wall.
